The City is doubling down on its resistance to transparency for the electric utility.
Here is part of the presentation at the workshop on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 defining the City's lobby efforts, paid for by you, the taxpayer.
A city should not be able to conceal any information concerning the utility unless it is a personnel matter or an ongoing legal action. By definition a city should not have the ability to define information as competitive. Who are they competing with? Other governments?
If the Texas Legislature has to pass legislation insuring transparency with respect to city owned utilities, then bring it on.
And isn't this cute? Is the staff and Council trying to tell the citizens that they are in charge?
Personal decisions trump local government decisions every time! The city owes the citizens the information for them to make personal decisions.
Its time for the Texas Legislature to pass legislation banning the use of public funds to lobby the Texas Legislature.
Contact Senator Schwertner and let him know we need to ban publicly funded lobbying and ensure transparency in government owned utilities in Texas.
