Be On Guard in the New Year

It is reported by Houston Chronicle that the superintendent of the Katy ISD is resigning in January 2019. His annual salary is $375,000!  On his last day of work, he will receive $750,000, an amount equal to two years of his base pay. This is ludicrous!!

The annual pay for the GISD superintendent reported to the Texas Education Agency for 2017-2018 is $262,104. The annual pay for 2018-2019 is likely higher and includes such perks as a car allowance, communications allowance(cell phone), Texas Teacher Retirement System, and $22,000 annually for a supplemental retirement system.

And looky here, the GISD superindent can receive a termination package equal to 1 years salary. GISD Superintendent 2018 Contract

Taxpayers in GISD need to be on guard against allowing excessive payments to GISD employees.
