Electricity Prices Sink??

According to the Wall Street Journal today, the price of electricity has sunk across the United States. Wholesale prices averaged $16.57 per megawatt-hour over the first six days of May. That is $0.01657 per kilowatt-hour for those who want the same units as their personal electric bill.

The rate-payers of Georgetown are not benefiting from these reduced prices because our City Leaders have locked us into 25 year fixed price contracts for renewable energy in excess of our needs.

The author's electric costs for March 2020 for example was $0.197 per kilowatt-hour. That includes the base rate of $24.80, the volume rate of $0.0958 per kilowatt-hour, and the power cost adjustment of $0.02375 per kilowatt-hour and tax of $1.30.

It is truly amazing that the power cost adjustment (PCA) alone is 43% higher than the average wholesale cost nationwide during early May.

Thank you mayor and city council - NOT!

We can hardly wait for the summer when our electricity use dramatically increases - NOT!
