The Wilco Sun reports that Georgetown plays a prominent role in former Vice President Al Gore's newest film.
"Georgetown residents who check out former vice president Al Gore’s latest film this summer might notice some familiar scenery. Georgetown’s shift to renewable energy plays a central role in “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power.” The film recently debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and will hit theaters July 28. It’s a sequel to Mr. Gore’s 2006 documentary on global warming “An Inconvenient Truth,” which won two Academy Awards. In the new film, an entertainment website Indie Wire called theGeorgetown segment a “fascinating scene.” The Washington Post named it, “one of the movie’s most memorable scenes.” Mr. Gore paid Georgetown a visit in August. Mayor Dale Ross took the day to show him around. “Mr. Gore was impressed and he wishes other cities and entities would join Georgetown in moving to 100 percent renewable energy,” Mayor Ross said at the time. —Madison Simmons"
